Burton Leander/Loughborough RC show WEHORR what they’re made of!

On Saturday 11th March at 3.30pm, the 77 th Women’s Eight Head took take place from Mortlake to Putney attracting over 300 competing crews from all across the UK and beyond, including Olympic Champions to the very best beginners. One of the crews to take part in this prestigious race over the Championship Course on the River Thames was a composite 8 made up of; four experienced Senior Rowers from Burton Leander Rowing Club (Samantha Allsop, Kat Delaney, Barbara Delaney, Katie Walker) and a further four experienced Senior Rowers from Loughborough Rowing Club (Zoe Hudson, Erica Gummery, Annie Beaumont, Cathy Beaumont), steered and coached along the course by knowledgeable Burton Leander Cox, Adam Brown.

Remembrance Sunday 13th November 2016

On Sunday 13th November at 10:30, BLRC would like to take a moment to pay our respects to those who fought and died in the line of duty.
Gerard Wilcox will hold a remembrance service and a few of our musically talented Juniors will play a sounding of Last Post.
A moments silence will then be held at 11am.

Burton Head 2016

81 crews took to the Trent for this years Burton Head which is held over 3500m downstream including internatinal entries from Burton’s German twin town of Lingen. Though it looked to be a bit of a washout the rain had cleared by boating for the first division and racing commenced on what turned out to be a lovely sunny Autumn day.

On Sunday 13th June, crews from Burton Leander’s masters squads made the short trip to Holme Pierrepont’s National Watersports Centre near Nottingham to battle it out against the best of the UKs over 27 age group rowers in the British Rowing Masters Championship. Competing in 6 events over the 2-day event, the men’s and women’s squads were represented in doubles, quads, fours and eights.

Burton Leander Triumph at Trentham

Burton Leander Rowing Club made the short trip to Stoke on Trent on Sunday 7th June to compete in Trentham Regatta hosted on the Rowing Lake adjacent to the popular gardens. With 13 crews competing from Junior 14 to Masters C level, the club were well represented across the range of events from single sculls to quads and fours. To come home with 8 wins and many second places is a phenomenal success for the local club.
